Jewelry Tips for Care

GP DEVA Totemic Energy Jewelry Tips for Care
  1. Perspiration and dirt will cause the jewelry to discolor or blacken, and moisture will loosen the adhesive that bonds the gems. Always remove jewelry before doing housework, exercising, swimming, bathing, or soaking in hot springs.

  2. Be aware that wearing jewelry in extreme high or low temperatures, such as skiing or bathing in mineral springs spas, may cause burning sensation or redness of the skin.

  3. Pearls, emeralds, and other natural stones may react to certain chemicals, such as cosmetics. Please apply make-up, hairspray, and perfume before putting on jewelry.

  4. Pearls are susceptible to acids, perspiration, and perfume. You may wear them on top of the clothes, instead of direct contact with skin. After each wearing, clean your pearls with warm water or water-moistened cotton ball, and then patting dry with a soft cloth.

  5. The best way to care for sterling silver jewelry is simply wearing it frequently; the natural skin oils can bring out the jewelry's luster and radiance. Wipe your jewelry with a soft chamois or flannel cotton cloth after use. Storage for a prolonged time causes silver jewelry to tarnish. To minimize the tarnishing process as a result of oxidation, make sure your silver is not exposed to air and light during storage: place in cloth pouches, small bags with an interlocking seal, or in separate compartments in your jewelry box.

  6. Do not wear sterling silver jewelry in hot springs or bathing beaches to protect from tarnishing caused by the interaction of silver with certain elements such as sulfur. Tarnish on silver jewelry can be wiped off by treated silver cloth, a flannel-like fabric treated to prevent tarnish. To maintain its cleaning and polishing properties, the treated silver cloth is not washable. For silver jewelry that is special processed or embedded with karat gold, use cotton or nano cloth to polish instead; the treated silver cloth may rub away the decorative craftsmanship on the surface of the jewelry.

  7. Always clean and polish your jewelry with an unsoiled, soft, non-abrasive cloth before storage.

  8. Store your jewelry in a cool, dry place. Exposure to light, dust, heat, humidity, and volatile objects (such as camphor and aerosol spray) will promote tarnish and diminish the beauty of the jewelry.
