Master Sun Don Lee
a Master in Creation An artist whose
work manifests life science
Master Sun-Don Lee, the founder of GP DEVA, An artist whose
work explores and manifests the power of life science.
Skillful at cello and violin, versed in literature, music,
art and chess, Lee has taken since March, 1989 the position
of President of Forshang Buddhism World Center and Da Yuan
Association, dedicating his life to the spreading of the spirit
of Buddhism - glory, perfection and goodness, to the world.
His teaching reaches Republic of China, United States, Canada,
East Europe (Bulgaria), Central Europe (German), West Europe
(Britain, France), South Europe (Portugal), Japan, Singapore,
Malaysia, Hong Kong, etc.
Lee has written more than ten sets of Chinese ancient swordsmen
novels under his pseudonym - Chi Ru (meaning a Confucian of
unusual distinction). In 1999, after taking ten years off
from writing, Lee published Ningfeng Tianxia (The
World of the Frozen Wind), (Congeal the Wind and Embody
the universe), which at one time ranked among top three Best
Sellers in Kingstone Bookstore in Taiwan. This work has been
praised for introducing a new Zen literary style to the martial
arts novel genre.
In honor and in memory of his deeply indebted teacher, Lee
specially composed, with no training on piano, a set of piano
pieces - The Memoir of a Great Patriarch. A concert was held
in Taipei National Concert Hall in 2003 especially for the
world debut of these piano pieces.
The
idea of totemic creation first came to Master Lee in deep
meditation in 1998. At that time he realized that a simple
composition of lines could suffice to perfectly capture the
intricate interaction of causations and all transformations
of energies in the universe.
His totemic creations are diverse in material and format:
oil paintings, stone carvings, rope sculptures, and designs
of space. The Yuan-Dao Kuan-Yin Temple (in Taiwan) and the
interior designs of GP DEVA's worldwide direct stores (in
Beverly Hills, Tokyo, and Taiwan) are all examples of Lee's
creative work. His unique Energy Aesthetics has won national
and international recognition, receiving media coverage in
Japan, France, Spain, and the USA.
In 2004, Lee steps into the realm of fine arts, becoming
the first contemporary artist to bring "totemic energy"
to jewelry design.
