The 2023 A.R.T. Taipei Art Expo (short for Taipei New Art Expo or A.R.T.) officially kicked off at the Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1 on May 5, including a five-day event with a VIP Night. On April 9, GP DEVA held a special VIP preview session at X-power Gallery, inviting honored guests to enjoy an exclusive first look at the charm of art.
The Taipei Art Expo features ten major exhibition areas. During the preview period, visitors could appreciate artworks in sections such as International Contemporary Art, International Artist Salon, New York Contemporary Art Fund, Chinese Contemporary, and the Curated Pavilion. A total of 27 artists from 10 countries presented an impressive array of paintings, sculptures, and mixed-media artworks, each with its own distinctive style.

A Gathering of Internationally Renowned Artists – Only at 2023 A.R.T. Taipei!
Among the lineup of world-class artists, Dutch artist Peter H. Harskamp, a long-time exhibitor at A.R.T., stands out as one of the most popular names. Considered a national treasure in the Netherlands, his works have repeatedly sold out at previous expos, attracting collectors who come specifically to view his art.
Also drawing attention is Spanish artist Alvaro Reja, whose collectors include a former Spanish president, a former king of Saudi Arabia, the founder of Zara, and F1 legend Schumacher, among many others. His studio is usually closed to the public and only open by invitation — making this Taipei exhibition an exceptionally rare opportunity that left collectors delighted.

Kang Chia-Ping, Chairperson of Deyi Art Museum and Business Director of Taipei New Art Expo, hosted a live online tour for GP DEVA guests. She mentioned that in addition to well-known artists, some—like Joan Artigas Planas—were exhibiting in Asia for the very first time, offering Taiwanese audiences a rare chance to experience their works up close.

Wait, AI Isn’t Just in Art — Even A.R.T. Staff Have “AI Brains”?
Compared to the main exhibition, the preview served as a delightful “appetizer.” The full show featured 339 artists from 52 countries, with over 3,000 pieces exhibited at the grand venue of TWTC Hall 1.
“Wow—so many artworks! How do I even choose?”
No worries for those with decision fatigue—each section had trained A.R.T. staff and volunteer guides, particularly the VVIP reception team, whose experience makes them seem like they have built-in AI systems. They quickly assess each collector’s preferences and budget, then recommend the perfect piece accordingly.
At the GP DEVA VIP event, Art Revolution Taipei staff offered warm, personalized service—instantly pulling up matching artists and artworks on iPads for each guest. This “love at first sight” art matchmaking experience left attendees deeply impressed.

A.R.T. Taipei’s Great Reputation Comes from Accessibility and Diversity
Now entering its 13th edition, A.R.T. Taipei has long attracted both new and seasoned collectors. One GP DEVA guest, Ms. Lee, shared that the very first artwork she ever purchased was at A.R.T. Taipei. The fair appeals to everyone—from elite collectors and real estate developers to families—thanks to its inclusive curation.
In the 2D art category, A.R.T. showcases a wide variety of styles: classical realism, abstraction, symbolism, digital and mixed media, cartoon-inspired, and Chinese ink landscapes, capturing the beauty of diverse global cultures.

3D sculptures also perform well in sales — their detailed craftsmanship, warmth, and accessible pricing make them easy to collect. Most importantly, collectors often say, “I already know exactly where I’ll place it.” The fair’s curators carefully select works that integrate into real-life spaces, evoking that love-at-first-sight magic.

Gifts with Heart — A Warm and Joyful Art Preview
When staff saw the gift bags, they exclaimed, “Wow! What great presents!” GP DEVA handmade art soaps, infused with natural essential oils, were a huge hit among guests. Chiu Yun-Ju, store manager of GP DEVA Frontier Art flagship store, said: “We invited 235 VIP guests from three boutiques. Since it’s hosted in our own venue, the welcome gifts had to be generous!”
Some guests even traveled from central and southern Taiwan, while managers and staff from the Taichung and Kaohsiung branches all came to assist with hosting.

After completing their art purchases, guests could relax upstairs at GP DEVA Frontier Art (1F). While waiting for paperwork, they enjoyed Hsiang Hua Tien’s premium teas—including aged white tea, Auspicious GABA, and Fengqing Pine Needle—sampling them ahead of their official May release.
Brand Director Chang Tsui-Fang personally brewed tea for guests, smiling as she said: “Today’s a special mix from my private collection—anyone sitting down to drink it is in for a treat!”
The event was filled with laughter, joined by artists Sa Chen-Ming and Lai Ya-Chi from the GP DEVA Group, whose works will also appear in the official A.R.T. exhibition!

GP DEVA sincerely thanks all guests who attended, and is delighted to have spent such a vibrant, art-filled day together. From May 5–8, GP DEVA will join the 2023 A.R.T. Taipei Art Expo at the World Trade Center Hall 1 as both a major sponsor and an invited exhibitor in the Cultural & Creative Art Zone. We look forward to seeing everyone there!
